General Naturopathic Questions

A naturopath is a practitioner of naturopathy, a form of healthcare that focuses on supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. They typically take a holistic approach, meaning they look at your overall lifestyle—not just symptoms.

What does a naturopath do?

Naturopaths often:

  • Assess your diet, sleep, stress, and lifestyle habits
  • Use natural therapies like supplements, herbal medicine and nutrition suggestions
  • Recommend lifestyle changes (exercise, stress management, etc.)
  • Aim to address the root cause of health issues rather than just symptoms
Why people may go to see a naturopath?

Naturopaths can be very good at supporting you with issues such as:

  • Digestive issues
  • Fatigue or low energy
  • Digestive issues
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Chronic conditions
  • Skin conditions
  • Feeling ‘under the weather’ often, with no real idea why
Can a naturopath work with my GP or specialist?

Yes, at Advanced Natural Medicine, we are very happy to work alongside your GP or specialist.  This is called integrative care and looks like this:

  • Your GP or specialist will monitor your condition, provide diagnosis, prescribe medications or treatments and provide medical oversight.
  • Advanced Natural Medicine will suggest supplements (with awareness of your medications), suggest diet or lifestyle changes to support your body.  We may help to manage side effects (e.g., fatigue, digestion, stress) and support your recovery with nutrition and lifestyle changes

Condition-Specific Questions

Can Advanced Natural Medicine help with digestive problems?

Many of our clients come into Advanced Natural Medicine with digestive issues of all types and severity.  Sometimes these digestive issues are alongside other conditions.  Constipation, diarrhoea, reflux, bloating, sore tummies, pain after eating or conditions such as Ulcerative cholitis and stomach ulcers.

Often, it is obvious the effect that these symptoms can have on your body.  However, more subtle issues such as brain fog and low energy can also result from some of these digestive issues.

Sometimes, allergies or food sensitivities can play a role in digestive issues.  We will ask many questions around the food that you are eating and the symptoms that you are getting.

Can Advanced Natural Medicine help with hormone imbalance?

Female hormonal issues can look different for different women.  They can be very frustrating for a woman to experience.  Hormonal imbalances can cause some of the following issues:

  • PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)
  • Irregular periods
  • Endometriosis – very painful periods
  • Uterine Fibroids – heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Weight gain
  • Infertility
  • Premenstrual Tension – tearfulness, sore breasts, irritability, feeling like you’re on an emotional roller coaster, headaches, bloated tummy
  • Fatigue, brain fog, difficulty concentrating
  • Depression, Anxiety
  • Menopause – hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, low libido

Hormone imbalance can impact women in a lot of different ways and can indirectly affect work and personal relationships.

At Advanced Natural Medicine, we have a dedicated team to help bring your hormones into balance and help to alleviate any discomfort you may be experiencing.

Can Advanced Natural Medicine help chronic fatigue or low energy?

Many different factors can lead to or contribute to low energy or chronic fatigue, and the underlying causes often vary from person to person, making it a highly individual issue.

People experiencing chronic fatigue are sometimes mislabelled as depressed or anxious. In our experience, this is often not the case, and fatigue can be poorly understood within modern Western medicine. That said, it’s important to undergo appropriate medical testing to rule out other possible conditions.

These symptoms can be deeply debilitating. Even if you’re still managing to get to work and keep up with daily responsibilities, your overall quality of life may be significantly affected.

At Advanced Natural Medicine, we will go through all of your symptoms and put you on a plan to support your quality of life.
